High St. & Upper Bridge Street sites

As you may be aware the Neighbourhood Plan acknowledges that it is appropriate for applications for the sites to be brought forward in advance of the masterplan.

As part of our commitment to consultation the project team undertook a neighbour workshop (Tuesday 15th December 2015) with the closest neighbours to these sites in order to understand the perspective and interests of these individuals in relation to what happens on these sites.

Planning applications

The project team have now submitted planning applications for the residential redevelopment of both of these sites. The submitted schemes are the result of the engagement undertaken with immediate neighbours and in summary involve:

Wolfson Lecture Theatre (26 – 32 High Street, Wye, Ashford, TN25 5AL)

  • 7 homes (3 conversions of buildings along the High Street and 4 new build homes within the site) – down from 9 in the original scheme
  • 9 parking spaces

Wolfson House (Upper Bridge Street, Wye, Ashford, TN25 5AN)

  • Demolition of the existing building and development of 6 2-bedroom new homes with changes to the design to respond better to neighbouring properties
  • 13 parking spaces (up from 6 in the original proposal)
